IBM introduced Granite 4.0 3B Vision for enterprise documents. The publication highlights table extraction, chart understanding, and finding related fields. Its visual component is delivered as an adapter to a Granite language backbone, supporting a modular design.

Context

Compactness is useful when a model can handle the forms an organization actually uses. Evaluation should check how text relates to cells, labels, and units—not just whether the words were recognized. A structural error can disappear inside a fluent summary while still corrupting the calculation that follows.
