Anthropic acquires Vercept for computer use

Anthropic announced its acquisition of Vercept, linking the deal to computer use: completing tasks through application interfaces. The announcement names Vercept co-founders Kiana Ehsani, Luca Weiss, and Ross Girshick, whose work includes perception and computer interaction.

Context

Operating an interface requires more than choosing a correct answer. Buttons move, application state is incomplete, and an action can have consequences beyond the screen. Better perception is therefore most useful alongside clear authorization boundaries and ways to recover from mistakes. A successful demonstration only covers part of that problem.
